PayPal’s fee page (last ) adds that a currency conversion, and currency conversion fees, may also apply to a withdrawal. A dollar balance has to become pesos before it lands in a peso account; see converting dollars to pesos on the PayPal to GCash page.

PayPal’s help page also says your bank may charge a fee to receive funds from PayPal, so ask your bank about its charge for incoming electronic transfers.

Bank codes PayPal asks for

PayPal identifies a Philippine bank by its BRSTN, a nine-digit bank code, not by the SWIFT code. These are the codes for the larger banks as PayPal prints them on its Philippine list.

PayPal’s list carries 43 banks. If your bank is not on it, PayPal’s instruction is to “check with your bank directly”. Upwork’s Direct to Local Bank also asks for a BRSTN; the SWIFT and BRSTN table shows both codes side by side for each bank.

Tip A BRSTN goes in the bank-code field and the SWIFT code in a wire form. Do not swap them.

  3. Click Transfer to your bank.

When a withdrawal goes wrong

If the bank cannot process the request because the account details are incomplete or incorrect, the money goes back to your PayPal account, and PayPal’s Philippine fee table lists ₱250 for a bank return. Once you request a withdrawal, it cannot be cancelled, and every transfer is subject to review and can be delayed or stopped. Check the account name, account number and bank before you confirm.

Warning You request a withdrawal yourself, inside your own PayPal account. Never share your PayPal password or a one-time PIN with anyone who offers to “speed up” or trace a transfer.
