Banks › Maybank › SWIFT code

The Maybank SWIFT code is MBBEPHMMXXX; its separate PayPal bank code is 010220016.

Short answer Use MBBEPHMMXXX when a sender or transfer form asks for Maybank Philippines’ BIC or SWIFT code. Use 010220016 only when PayPal, Upwork or another service explicitly asks for the Philippine bank code or BRSTN. Neither code replaces the beneficiary’s name or account number.

A BIC identifies the bank. The nine-digit code used by PayPal and Upwork is a domestic bank identifier. The account number identifies the recipient. Enter each value only in the field that names it.

A sending bank may also ask for Maybank’s address, a branch address, an intermediary bank or currency-specific instructions. Those fields depend on the transfer route. Ask Maybank or the sending bank for the route that applies to the payment.

What Maybank says about telegraphic transfers

Maybank describes telegraphic transfer as a way to send funds to a bank account in the Philippines or abroad through SWIFT, and says the sender needs the beneficiary bank’s SWIFT code. Its page says funds are credited to the recipient’s bank account within 3 banking days.

The page publishes two Maybank-side charges:

Transfer described by Maybank Charge shown
Incoming transfer credited to a Maybank account US$5 per transaction, charged to the recipient
Transfer sent to another bank US$15, charged to the sender

The sending bank or a correspondent may charge separately. Review the sender’s final quote and ask what amount the beneficiary is expected to receive. For questions, Maybank lists its customer care hotline (02) 8588-3888, toll-free 1800-10-588-3888, and mpi.customerservice@maybank.com.

BRSTN for PayPal and Upwork

PayPal’s Philippine bank-code PDF lists 010220016 for “MAYBANK PHILS., INC.”, and Upwork’s bank-code table lists the same code for “Maybank Philippines, Inc.” This is not the bank’s SWIFT code.

If a form shows only a vague “bank code” field, read its help text or contact the provider before submitting. A code with the correct number of characters can still be wrong for that field.

The Philippine bank-code table lets you compare BIC/SWIFT and BRSTN identifiers. The PESONet participant table lists every PESONet participant with its BIC, and the InstaPay participant list shows which banks and e-wallets are on InstaPay.

Before the sender releases the money

  1. Confirm the beneficiary’s exact registered name and account number.
  2. Confirm the receiving account can accept the transfer currency.
  3. Put MBBEPHMMXXX only in a BIC or SWIFT field.
  4. Put 010220016 only in a Philippine bank-code or BRSTN field.
  5. Ask whether an intermediary bank is required for the currency and route.
  6. Review the transfer fee, exchange rate and estimated arrival date.
  7. Keep the transaction reference until the credit appears.

Warning Never share an OTP, PIN, password or card security code. Those are authentication secrets, not routing details.
