Does GCash have a SWIFT code, and how do you get money from abroad into GCash? From GCash’s own help pages.
Short answer GCash’s Virtual US Account page says “SWIFT transfers and non-USD currencies are not accepted”. Money from abroad comes in through GCash’s official remittance partners, from your PayPal or Payoneer account, or as US dollars by ACH or Fedwire to the Virtual US Account. If the sender can only use SWIFT, have it sent to a Philippine bank account and move it to GCash from there.

SWIFT and the GCash wallet
A SWIFT code (BIC) identifies a bank in the international SWIFT network, so a sender’s bank can route a cross-border transfer to it. GCash is an e-wallet run by G-Xchange. Its newest route for foreign money, the Virtual US Account, rules SWIFT out in so many words: “Only US domestic USD payments are supported. SWIFT transfers and non-USD currencies are not accepted” (GCash ↗).
The routes GCash does publish
| Route | Who sends | How it arrives | Cost GCash states | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official remittance partner | Sender abroad, through a listed partner such as Western Union, Remitly, WorldRemit or MoneyGram, depending on the country | Cash In > Global Banks and Partners, claimed with a reference number | GCash | |
| Virtual US Account, ACH | US payer or platform: Wise, Payoneer, Upwork, Deel, Gusto, PayPal, US banks | USD balance in GCash, 1 to 3 business days | No fee | GCash |
| Virtual US Account, Fedwire | US payer | USD balance, same day | US$15 deducted; wires under US$15 rejected | GCash |
| PayPal | You, from your own PayPal balance | Linked PayPal account in GCash | See PayPal to GCash | zpeso |
| Payoneer | You, from your Payoneer balance | Linked Payoneer account | See Payoneer to GCash | zpeso |
GCash’s partner list is organised by sending country and asks users to “transact only with the official GCash remittance partners” (GCash ↗). Check that the sender’s service and country appear there before money is sent.
Claiming a remittance in GCash
- Make sure your GCash account is Fully Verified (see GCash verification).
- Ask the sender to use your name exactly as registered in GCash.
- In the app, tap Cash In > Global Banks and Partners and choose the remittance partner.
- Enter the expected amount, the reference number and the purpose, then tap Proceed.
- Review the details, tap Next and enter the 6-digit code sent to your number.
GCash says the money appears in the wallet instantly when the details are right. Claim within 90 days, before the reference number expires; after 3 wrong reference-number attempts you must wait 24 hours (GCash ↗ · ).
The GCash Virtual US Account
The Virtual US Account gives you a US account number and an ACH and wire routing number in the GCash app, under the Profile icon. GCash says it can receive “US domestic payments in USD via bank transfer or wire transfer”, such as payroll and invoice payments, and lists Wise, Gusto, Payoneer, Deel, Upwork, Chase and PayPal as platforms that can send to it (GCash ↗).
| Detail | What GCash states |
|---|---|
| Accepted | US domestic USD by ACH or Fedwire |
| Not accepted | SWIFT, non-USD currencies, cash deposits, paper checks, Zelle, card payments, PayPal or Venmo transfers, money orders, crypto |
| ACH timing and fee | 1 to 3 business days, no fee; same-day ACH if sent before 4:00 pm EST |
| Wire timing and fee | Same day if sent before 5:00 pm EST; US$15 deducted |
| Receiving limit in USD | No limit |
| Converting to pesos | Follows your GCash limits; quote shown before you confirm |
| Common failure | Sender’s name for you does not match your registered name; the payment goes back to the sender’s bank |
The table lists “PayPal or Venmo transfers” as not supported while the same page explains how to add the Virtual US Account as a bank in PayPal; read that as PayPal’s withdraw-to-bank (ACH) route working, and person-to-person PayPal payments not.
When the sender can only do SWIFT
Have the money sent to a Philippine bank account that has a SWIFT code, then move it to GCash by InstaPay; bank-to-GCash transfers are free at many large banks since July 2026 (see BPI to GCash and BDO to GCash). Bank SWIFT codes are on Philippine bank SWIFT and BRSTN codes, for example BDO, BPI, Metrobank and GoTyme.
Warning Nobody needs your MPIN or a one-time PIN to send you money. A message asking you to pay a “release fee” or share a code to receive an overseas transfer into GCash is a scam pattern; check the status only inside the GCash app or through GCash’s official help center.
