What it costs

Metrobank’s InstaPay and PESONet help page lists the transaction fee for both rails as “None (FREE)”, and says the person receiving is not charged either: “The full amount sent will be credited to your beneficiary” (Metrobank ↗). Metrobank announced zero InstaPay and PESONet fees through the Metrobank App on July 9, 2026 (Metrobank ↗). Before that, its April 22, 2026 announcement put InstaPay transfers to other banks and e-wallets at ₱8 (Metrobank ↗). The change was covered at the time in BDO, Metrobank, PSBank and China Bank make transfers free.

When GCash takes both InstaPay and PESONet, Metrobank routes a transfer of ₱50,000 or less through InstaPay automatically “for immediate crediting” (Metrobank ↗). The fees every other bank and e-wallet charge are on InstaPay and PESONet transfer fees.

How much you can send

Two sets of limits apply at once: Metrobank’s limits on what leaves your account, and the limits of your GCash profile on what comes in.

  • Metrobank, InstaPay: ₱50,000 per transfer and ₱100,000 a day. Metrobank raised the daily figure from ₱50,000 to ₱100,000 on April 22, 2026 (Metrobank ↗ · ).
  • Metrobank, PESONet: ₱200,000 a day; a single transfer can use whatever is left of that day’s limit (Metrobank ↗ · ).
  • Metrobank, QR code: ₱50,000 a day to other banks by InstaPay (Metrobank ↗ · ).

Metrobank adds that “receiving limits may differ with every receiving institution”, so check the GCash side before you send.

Warning An InstaPay transfer cannot be cancelled once your Metrobank account is debited. InstaPay checks the account number only, not the name, so a wrong GCash number sends the money to someone else; Metrobank says the receiving institution then has to ask the recipient to return it (Metrobank ↗ · ). Never share your OTP, password or PIN with anyone who offers to speed up or reverse a transfer.
