GCash to BDO: the sending fee, account checks and what to do when a transfer is delayed.

A GCash to BDO transfer sends pesos through InstaPay. GCash’s current sending instructions list a ₱10 fee per transfer, effective July 4, 2026. Enter the recipient’s bank account details or scan their bank QR, review the destination and retain the transaction reference. Real-time processing is the normal route, but a delayed credit needs checking before another payment is sent.

Short answer Open GCash, choose Transfer then Local, select BDO, enter the amount, account name and account number, and review before confirming. GCash lists a ₱10 transaction fee. Its help centre separately describes delays on the BDO route, with return or crediting timelines in business days.

A recipient amount and a fee are separate figures. As an arithmetic example, sending ₱1,000 with a ₱10 fee requires ₱1,010 for those two components. Check the actual total shown by the app before confirming, particularly if the balance is close to the amount you intend to send.

This direction is different from BDO to GCash. A fee or daily limit published for sending from BDO does not define a transfer initiated in GCash.

Wallet allowance is not one transfer’s limit

GCash dates its current profile table October 1, 2026. For Fully Verified adults, it gives a ₱1,000,000 wallet limit, ₱1,000,000 a month incoming and outgoing, and ₱500,000 outgoing a day.

Those profile figures cover the customer’s GCash usage; they should not be read as permission to send ₱500,000 in one InstaPay transaction. A service can impose a separate transaction cap. The balance available, outgoing allowance remaining and amount accepted on the sending screen all need to support the payment.

For customers with several linked GCash accounts, the official limits page says the profile allowances are shared, rather than added together. Opening another linked account does not create a separate monthly allowance.

See the GCash limits reference for the complete profile comparison and InstaPay for the rail’s separate rules.

Steps

  1. Ask the recipient for the BDO account name and number intended for this payment, or their bank QR.
  2. Open GCash and tap Transfer, then Local.
  3. Select the bank logo, or tap View All and choose BDO.
  4. Enter the amount, account name and account number. Alternatively, choose Scan/Upload Bank QR, then enter the amount after checking the details filled in.
  5. Tap Send Money and review the bank, destination, amount and displayed fee.
  6. Confirm the payment and keep the reference. Ask the recipient to check the receiving account, not only a screenshot sent by the payer.

These are the current GCash instructions for local-bank transfers. A QR reduces retyping; it does not remove the need to review whose account it identifies.

How long it takes

  1. Normal transfer: GCash describes InstaPay bank transfers as real-time.
  2. Transfer problem: its bank-transfer help article says the sender receives an SMS about the next action.
  3. Return route: GCash gives 1–2 business days for money returned to the sender’s wallet.
  4. Credit route: it gives 3–5 business days for credit to the bank account.

Business days exclude weekends and holidays in these instructions. Check current service messages in the app before initiating a payment.

If the BDO credit is missing

Compare the sender’s transaction record with the recipient’s account record. Keep the amount, destination, reference, date and status together. Do not send the same amount again solely because the recipient cannot yet see the first credit.

GCash’s sender-side troubleshooting page provides a case route: Transactions → the transaction → Need Help? → I didn’t receive the money. It says to contact GCash if money has not returned after two business days. Its receiving-bank help page says to ask for help if neither the receiving credit nor wallet return appears after five business days.

These instructions address different stages of the same investigation. Use the sender’s transaction-level help route to report the issue; do not treat either timeframe as a reason to repeat the payment. GCash says a failed transfer’s full amount, including the fee, is refunded. A missing credit still needs the provider to establish the transaction’s outcome.
