For an amount above ₱50,000 that must arrive in one transfer, PESONet is the Metrobank route; for a same-day transfer after 3:00 PM or on a weekend, InstaPay is the real-time option within its limits. Metrobank’s App FAQ says it is not possible to send money via PESONet using QR codes; QR transfers to other banks go through InstaPay.
Metrobank adds a charge only when a credit card is the source of an InstaPay transfer: 1.5% of the amount or ₱25, whichever is higher (Metrobank ↗).
Tip If your PESONet transfer has to land on a Friday, send it before 3:00 PM. After the cut-off it moves to the next banking day, which after a Friday is usually Monday, or later if a holiday follows.
Who you can send to
Metrobank keeps a list of the banks and e-wallets you can reach by InstaPay and PESONet from Metrobank Online and the Metrobank App (Metrobank ↗). The BSP’s full roster of PESONet participants is on PESONet participants.
For a transfer into a GCash wallet, see Metrobank to GCash.
Warning Check the account number before you confirm. Metrobank’s FAQ says the sending and receiving institutions validate the account number only, so money sent to the wrong valid account comes back only if the recipient agrees. See InstaPay sent to the wrong account.
