InstaPay works on weekends and holidays; a bank holiday does not create a routine cut-off for the rail.

Short answer BPI states that InstaPay is available 24/7 through its app and online banking. GoTyme makes the same distinction: InstaPay works around the clock, while PESONet transfers outside banking hours or on weekends and holidays post on the next banking day. Maintenance or a technical problem can still delay an InstaPay transfer. Check the selected rail and the sending institution’s status before treating a delay as a holiday queue.

These examples explain availability, not a promise that every payment arrives without interruption. A working payment rail, an available bank app and a completed transfer are separate observations. If an app is under maintenance, the rail’s 24/7 design does not make that app usable.

A scheduled instruction also needs separate attention. Look at the date and status attached to the actual instruction instead of assuming a future-dated transfer has already entered InstaPay. A screenshot showing a schedule is different from confirmation that money was sent.

Check the rail before calculating a delay

Read the receipt or transaction details for InstaPay or PESONet. A bank app can offer both, and the same recipient may be reachable through more than one route. Compare a PESONet instruction with its banking-day processing rules; compare an InstaPay instruction with its transaction status and the bank’s service advisory.

For bank-by-bank cut-offs, use the PESONet reference. For the broader difference between the systems, see InstaPay versus PESONet. This guide does not turn a PESONet holiday schedule into an InstaPay outage announcement.

When an InstaPay debit is still missing

Keep the transaction reference, amount, date and time, sending institution, recipient institution and status shown in your app. Ask the recipient to check their transaction history as well as notifications. Those records help support distinguish an uncredited payment from a missing alert.

BPI directs clients with non-real-time credits to send it a message or contact its 24-hour contact centre to check the transaction. That is a BPI support route, not a universal return deadline for every participant.

Warning Avoid making another transfer merely because the first payment is unresolved. Ask the sending institution to establish its outcome, so a later credit does not leave you with two payments.

Customer support during a holiday

The BSP’s March 30, 2023 memorandum reminds participating supervised institutions to keep support such as hotlines and other channels accessible during weekends and declared holidays. It is a customer-support requirement; it does not convert PESONet into a holiday settlement service or guarantee an immediate refund.

Use contact details from the bank’s own app or website. Retain the ticket number and the response you receive, including any stated next update. The bank complaints guide explains how to keep a useful complaint record.
