BPI maintaining balance ranges from ₱0 for its digital accounts to ₱2 million for Maxi-Saver.
Short answer BPI’s current deposit table lists no maintaining balance for #SaveUp and #MySaveUp. Regular Savings needs ₱3,000 in monthly average daily balance (ADB), Saver-Plus needs ₱3,000, Jumpstart needs ₱1,000 and Maxi-Saver needs ₱2,000,000. Checking accounts start at ₱10,000 for Regular Checking. A balance needed to earn interest is a separate threshold.

BPI maintaining balance by account
| Account | Initial deposit | Required minimum monthly ADB | Daily balance to earn interest |
|---|---|---|---|
| #SaveUp | ₱1 | ₱0 | ₱5,000 |
| #MySaveUp | ₱1 | ₱0 | ₱5,000 |
| Regular Savings | ₱3,000 | ₱3,000 | ₱5,000 |
| Saver-Plus | ₱3,000 | ₱3,000 | ₱50,000 |
| Jumpstart Savings | ₱100 | ₱1,000 | ₱2,000 |
| Maxi-Saver, peso | ₱2,000,000 | ₱2,000,000 | ₱2,000,000 |
| Regular Checking | ₱10,000 | ₱10,000 | Not interest-bearing in BPI’s table |
| Maxi One, statement or debit-card version | ₱25,000 | ₱25,000 | ₱25,000 |
The table is for the listed peso products. Foreign-currency accounts use different amounts and currencies. BPI’s table notes that the #SaveUp requirement has been waived since July 2023 and the #MySaveUp requirement since June 2023, and that Jumpstart’s ₱1,000 is waived for the first year for accounts opened from March 16, 2012.
How BPI calculates monthly ADB
ADB means average daily balance. BPI defines it as the sum of every end-of-day balance in a month divided by the number of days in that month.
For a 30-day month:
monthly ADB = total of 30 daily ending balances ÷ 30
If a Regular Savings account held ₱3,000 for 15 days and ₱0 for 15 days, its ADB would be ₱1,500. A deposit on the last day would not repair the average to ₱3,000 because most days had already ended at zero.
This is why “my balance was above the minimum on statement day” does not necessarily mean the monthly ADB requirement was met.
No maintaining balance is not the same as no limits
BPI #SaveUp and #MySaveUp both show a zero maintaining balance. They still have product rules.
#MySaveUp is opened through GCash and is available to fully verified GCash users who are Filipino citizens aged 18 or above. BPI publishes a ₱30,000 maximum account limit and a ₱30,000 accumulated daily deposit limit. A debit card is optional and BPI lists a ₱200 fee.
The account needs ₱5,000 as the daily balance to earn interest. That is not a maintaining balance: an account can remain open below ₱5,000 but will not meet the published interest threshold.
BPI says #SaveUp is opened through the BPI app and currently targets new BPI clients. The bank’s deposit table also gives it a ₱0 maintaining balance and ₱5,000 to earn interest.
Regular Savings: three different numbers
BPI’s Regular Savings page publishes:
- ₱3,000 to open the account;
- ₱3,000 required minimum monthly ADB; and
- ₱5,000 required daily balance to earn interest.
These amounts answer different questions. The opening deposit funds the new account. The monthly ADB is the maintaining-balance test. The daily interest threshold determines whether the account earns the published rate.
BPI’s page says an existing BPI client can open a Regular Savings account online through “Open a New Account” or at a branch.
Saver-Plus and Maxi-Saver
Saver-Plus has a relatively low ₱3,000 opening deposit and monthly ADB, but BPI lists ₱50,000 as the balance to earn interest. The product’s rate and reward features should not be confused with its maintaining balance.
Maxi-Saver is a premium product. BPI’s current table requires ₱2 million for the opening deposit, monthly ADB and balance to earn interest. The bank publishes a 0.125% annual rate and an additional 0.125% bonus for a month with no withdrawal, subject to its product terms.
“BPI savings account” is too broad to answer a maintaining-balance question without the product name.
When a below-balance fee can apply
BPI’s terms and conditions effective July 8, 2026 say the bank may collect service charges or maintenance fees from an active account whose balance has fallen below the required minimum monthly ADB for at least two consecutive months. For a dormant account, falling below the required ADB is enough.
For Regular Savings, BPI’s advisory published November 16, 2020 lists a ₱300 monthly service charge for falling below the required ADB, applied after two consecutive months below it, and a ₱30 monthly dormancy charge from the fifth year if the balance is below ₱3,000. Under its terms, BPI gives at least 60 days’ notice before changing fees.
A single low day does not trigger the rule by itself. The monthly average must fall below the requirement.
Dormancy is a separate rule
BPI’s July 2026 terms say:
- a savings account becomes dormant after two years with no client-initiated transaction;
- a current account becomes dormant after one year with no client-initiated transaction;
- dormant accounts do not earn interest;
- a dormant account below its required monthly ADB can be charged the applicable service or dormancy fee; and
- an account inactive for ten years is escheated in favor of the Treasurer of the Philippines.
BPI’s deposit updates page summarised these dormancy changes on May 8, 2026, ahead of the July 8 effective date.
Dormancy is not simply a low balance. It is an inactivity status. A no-maintaining-balance digital account and a dormant regular account therefore need different checks.
Which BPI accounts have no maintaining balance?
BPI currently lists a zero maintaining balance for #SaveUp and #MySaveUp. They differ in opening channel and limits:
- #SaveUp uses the BPI app and is described for new BPI clients.
- #MySaveUp uses the GCash app, is open to new and existing BPI clients who meet the criteria, and has the published ₱30,000 account limit.
Regular Savings, the traditional debit-card savings account, uses a ₱3,000 monthly ADB.
For incoming international transfers, see the BPI SWIFT code. To compare another bank’s requirement, use the maintaining balance by bank table.
