The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) warned that scammers are soliciting donations in the name of Monetary Board member Benjamin Diokno and are handing out bank account details to receive the money, GMA News reported on July 27, 2026.
The advisory, as quoted by GMA News, says the central bank and its officials and personnel “neither solicit donations, sponsorships, or financial assistance from the public”, nor facilitate such activities for charitable organizations.
It gave two channels for checking a suspicious request: the email address bspmail@bsp.gov.ph and the telephone number (+632) 8811-1277.
Warning A request to donate, sponsor or send financial assistance in the name of the BSP or one of its officials does not come from the BSP. Check the message through the email address or telephone number above before replying, and do not send money to an account named in it.
